Visitors to the Hotel Indigo’s Plank Bar and Kitchen will appreciate the various species of reclaimed wood on the handcrafted bar, as well as the stone that graces the bar top. The blend of contemporary and traditional elements extends to a number of seating area throughout the lobby, including a reading nook designed with a treatment of real books. ![]() Dark unpolished grey tile can be seen in the lobby flooring and double-hearth fireplace. Natural stacked stone reminiscent of limestone used in several historic Naperville structures serves as the back lit backdrop for the Reception Desk. “Guests will be surprised by design elements that engage them throughout the public spaces and guest rooms alike.” “We have worked hard to create a sense of discovery throughout the hotel,” says Chris McDonough, AIA, Design Director for Gettys. Much of the design sensibility was derived from visits to Naper Settlement where the museum curatorial staff met with designers from Gettys Chicago, an award-winning global hospitality design firm. The Naperville Indigo offers historic touches throughout, reflecting the community’s farming heritage, Kroehler manufacturing history and local resources including the DuPage River, the limestone quarry and rough-hewn natural wood of the historic Plank Road. A vibrant modern color palette is complimented by historic references and lots of natural light, making for an inviting, stylish and refreshing atmosphere. Hotel Indigo properties are designed to invite guests into the neighborhood experience, with decor in rooms and public spaces combine with curated menu items and design details to provide an authentically local experience. The 158-room boutique hotel reflects the history and culture of the Naperville community, as is the custom of Indigo hotels around the world. Naperville, IL-Guests and local residents alike will experience a uniquely local flavor when the Hotel Indigo Naperville Riverwalk opens later this fall at Water Street District in Downtown Naperville. ![]()
